With the HybridTrail
The surface Hyrox training demands
Hyrox includes two exercises where the floor is a performance variable, not a backdrop. In the sled push and sled drag, the friction between the sled and the surface directly affects how hard the athlete has to work.
Turf with a directional pile creates different resistance depending on which way the sled travels: pushing with the grain is easier; against it, harder. That inconsistency makes training unpredictable and prevents athletes from calibrating their effort accurately over time.
HybridTrail has a curled pile that removes this variable. The surface is homogeneous in every direction, meaning consistent resistance regardless of how the sled is oriented. The integrated Hyrox-standard markings mean the training zone can be set up without tape or temporary markers.
15mm. Not just a number
Five millimetres may not sound like much. In practice, the difference between a 10mm and a 15mm turf is felt when a session includes burpee broad jumps, farmer’s carry, and repeated running for 90 minutes. The extra cushioning reduces cumulative load on the knees and hips without affecting lateral stability during strength movements.
For gym owners, 15mm also reads as a premium surface visually — relevant when the look of the space is part of the commercial case.
Permanent or flexible — your call
HybridTrail adapts to how your gym operates. For spaces with a permanent Hyrox zone, installation with two-part adhesive fixes the turf permanently and ensures it won’t shift under sled pressure. For spaces that share the Hyrox area with other activities, loose-lay keeps the option to reconfigure or remove the turf without leaving a trace.
Double-sided tape sits between the two — suitable for moderate sled use and spaces that need occasional flexibility.
In official competition, sled push and sled drag are performed on artificial turf. Training on a different surface means arriving at the race without having calibrated the real effort the sled will demand.
Turf with a directional pile creates an asymmetric friction coefficient. Pushing or dragging the sled in the direction of the pile is easier; against it, harder. In a training lane where the sled travels the full width of the gym in both directions, that means half the run has a different resistance to the other half.
HybridTrail was built to remove this factor. The curled pile maintains the same friction coefficient regardless of direction, making it the consistent-training reference for gyms that want to replicate real race conditions.
For Hyrox training in a gym, artificial turf is the recommended surface for sled push and sled drag exercises. HybridTrail was developed specifically for this context, with 15mm thickness, uniform pile in every direction, and integrated Hyrox markings.
Yes. HybridTrail includes markings in Hyrox-standard dimensions, removing the need for additional floor tape or markers when setting up the training zone.
Both share the same curled pile technology with a uniform surface. HybridTrail is 15mm thick (CurledTrail is 10mm), includes Hyrox-specific markings, and is produced in 16m rolls. CurledTrail is a more versatile option for CrossFit, functional training, and outdoor spaces without specific Hyrox requirements.
Yes, on solid bases. The resin includes UV stabilisation and the structure allows natural water drainage.
Yes, from a 600m² minimum. Below that volume, the turf is available in the standard colour range (black and yellow).
